Snibble

Social video platform for premium short-form content

Social video platform for premium short-form content

Snibble was conceived as a premium short-form content platform with a social focus, where users can engage in conversations and discover content together. I joined the startup to help redesign the app and launch it to the market and after the launch I continued working in a them to introduce new features to the platform.

With the market already saturated with video platforms, we began researching to identify what users are missing or dissatisfied with on other platforms, so we could offer a unique experience.

Role:

Product Designer

Platform:

iOS / Android

Year:

2019 - 2024

Industry:

Entertainment

Before jumping into design I collaborated with the marketing team and reached out to our target audience (age 20 - 30). We conducted both individual and group interviews to gather detailed insights into the key features they seek in a modern video entertainment platform. Key findings include:

Multitasking

People prefer multitasking, like watching videos while chatting.

Video Length

People prefer concise videos (1–20 mins) with pre-roll ads.

Social Interaction

Shifting from random followers to close-knit friends or communities.

After several iterations of the app, I designed a tandem navigation system with Snibble Hub as the core component. The Hub serves as a crossroads for all the screens from where users can access all features present on the platform.

Being a content-driven platform, a significant amount of work went on creating a logic for the way content will be arranged and curated on the platform with internal tools.

Video Experience - Building the foundation for a video platform

Over time, we added core features like playback controls, search, and playlists to match competitors, while introducing curated topic feeds, preview mode, and friend-based recommendations to enhance user interaction.

Integrating social components into a video experience

As a core component of the overall experience, we envisioned social experience to be a mini ecosystem that co-exists with the video experience. Users can add and invite their friends, recommend content, share videos, and have them contextually applied to relevant conversations.

Taking it to next level with AI Integrations

I explored ways to integrate AI into our app amidst a changing market. We added AI features that let users watch and share videos within conversations, with the AI suggesting relevant videos based on message context.

We conducted user testing sessions during the design and development process to observe how users interact with the app and identify issues. Testing feedback led to major design iterations that changed the visual design and user flow.

As project grew in complexity and scale we’ve started working on a design system. I worked collaboratively with developers to create a design system that will be consistent in both Figma and in code.

As Snibble continues to grow and designs are iterated, we have achieved several milestones. Design also has helped to attract not only users, but also content partners, which are important for the success of the business. Working on a big project with a small team taught me to how to wear many hats and how to mediate between stakeholders and developers who often have different perspectives and priorities.
